Importing Data Into TurboTax®
- Once you have started your return and updated your personal information, click on “File” in the menu bar.
- Choose “Import” and select “From Financial Partner”.
- Scroll down the list box and select “Penson Financial Services, Inc.”.
- After you have selected “Penson Financial Services, Inc.”, click on the “Continue” button.
- You will have to sign on with your account number and tax id.
- User ID: Your account number as it appears on your statement
- Password: The Tax ID number associated with your account
- Example:
User ID: 07-11111119
Password: 123456789
- After you sign in, a dialogue box will appear with a message stating that data is downloading from Penson. Once the data has completed downloading, Turbo Tax® will allow you to choose the data that you want imported.
- Select any or all of the checkboxes for data that you want to import. Then click on the “Import Now” button to begin the import. A message will appear once the import is completed.
- If you want to see what was downloaded or begin allocating cost basis, select “Forms” from the menu bar.
- Then select “Open a Form” to display the list of IRS forms. Select a form from the list. The investment and tax data will be displayed on the appropriate form.
- Form 1099-MISC Worksheet will show any payments made on the 1099-MISC section of the combined 1099. Schedule B will display the Dividend, Interest, and OID information displayed on the combined 1099. Schedule D will display all the proceeds that were paid out for the year. You can update your cost basis directly to this schedule.
