Detailed Activity and Balance Information
Regal’s monthly statement design allows clients to be able to clearly analyze their monthly activity in landscape format and features a simplified summary page and an asset allocation pie chart. Questions and comments regarding the new statement should be directed to your Registered Representative.
How to Read the Customer Statement
All accounts with activity during the monthly statement period will generate a statement. Accounts without activity will only generate quarterly statements in March, June, September, and December. All activity that has settled during the month will be shown on the statement.
Account Value
This section provides a breakdown of the account for the current and previous statement periods, grouped by investment types. The stock positions are listed separately from the money balances. All stocks and money funds held overnight on the last business day of the month are reflected in Long Market Value. The Short Market Value would reflect any short positions held. The Total Cash section shows the money balance and includes cash account balance, margin account balance, short account balance, and other balances. The Total Account Value is the sum of all monies and positions in the account. Trades that have not settled by month end will not reflect in your balance.
Income Summary
The Income Summary is reflected for the statement period and year-to-date. Penson reports dividends and capital gains from taxable securities and capital gains in tax-free securities as taxable income. Penson reports income earned on municipal bonds and municipal bond funds as tax-exempt income. Penson reports earnings from investments in Traditional, Rollover, SEP-IRAs and Keoghs as tax-deferred income. Earnings from Roth IRAs are reported as tax-free income. Also shown is any Credit Interest or Margin Interest earned on the account. This does not include trading profits or losses.
Portfolio Positions
This section of the statement provides a summary of positions by investment type, i.e. money fund, stocks, bonds (municipal and corporate), etc. This will include the account type the security was purchased in, the quantity, the price per share, and the market value as of end-of-trading at month end. It will also include the percentage of the portfolio invested in the respective security, estimate of the current yield, and the estimated annual income. The short positions will be reflected separately at the bottom of the section. The cash balances (cash, margin, short, other) will also be reflected in this section along with their percentage of portfolio.
Cash Movement Detail
The Cash Movement Detail shows all cash movement within the account. This includes dividends, credit and debit interest, deposits, cash transfers. This section will also show any cash journals or stock journals. Any money movement into Money Funds will also be reflected here.
Trading Activity
All trades that settle during this statement period are reflected in this section. The statement will show the account type, trade date, activity, quantity, market price per share (purchase price) and the amount charged or amount credited to the account.
Trades Pending Settlement
The Trades Pending Settlement shows all trades that have not settled during the statement period.
Open Order Detail
A review of Good till Canceled Orders on the account can be found in this section. ***Please review your open orders carefully***
Money Fund Details
This section provides an activity record of the money funds activity. This would include any money market interest earned, any money fund shares purchased, as well as any checks written on the account or debit card usage.
Money Fund Yields
There are two yields that are shown on the statement for the money funds. The first is the current yield which represents the amount of dividends paid in a specified seven day period and assumed to be paid each week over a 52-week period, this yield is shown as a percentage of investments. The effective yield represents the yield compounding due to the dividends being reinvested. (Dividends paid are assumed to be reinvested.)
Debit Card and Check Detail
This provides a transaction history of checks and charges. This includes information such as the date, check number, and/or transaction number, the payee and the dollar amount.
